This and That

  • I completed my first half marathon.  I ran the whole thing, which was my goal.  Finished in 2:18. I think I definitely could have done better, but for my first race I just wanted to make sure I finished.  Now I know what to shoot for next time.
  • My co-worker and I have planned a Zombie Apocalypse for our math classes.  We got super nerdy creating all the math for the project.  It's things like this that make me love being a teacher. We had the kids really freaked out for about 3 minutes before they realized it was just a fake.
  • Halloween has been a blast.  Harper is mildly obsessed with all things pirate, so that was what she wanted to be.  We hit up the Good Will and wrangled together costumes for the whole family.  I love that place!

  • Speaking of Harper's obsession with Pirates, Joe broke out his Lego pirate ship and a castle from when he was a kid so now the two of them play pirate Lego's for about an hour a day.  It's a great thing to watch the two of them playing together.

Last weekend we took Harper on her first trip to Hocking Hills.  We had a great weekend.  Our cabin was the perfect little retreat for the three of us.
Looking like a Holywood starlet on the way down to the cabin
In Nelsonville, they have a working train that you can ride.  It's just an out and back ride, but perfect for Harper.

In true Hocking Hills fashion, we spent a lot of time relaxing.  We roasted marshmallows, and our location had a trampoline that Harper took full advantage of.

On our way back we stopped at a pumpkin patch so we could pick our Halloween pumpkin.  Harper loved riding in the little pull wagons they had to transport your pumpkins back from the patch.

All and all a great Family weekend!

Love/Hate

Photobucket

Today I am loving and hating Chips and Salsa

Love: You are my favorite snack, the one snack I often crave.  You are the best part of going to a Mexican restaurant.  Your salty, spicy, juicy combo is unbeatable.  Combine you with a margarita and few things can make me as happy.  I cannot have you in my house, because I have no will power and will eat you in mass amounts.

Hate:Due to aforementioned lack of will power, I pound you down like it's been a week since I've last eaten.  I lose the ability to focus on conversation because I am solely focused on getting you in my belly.    When my delicious plate of enchiladas arrives, I have no room left to eat them.  I am ashamed when I think that my dinner consisted of fried tortillas and chopped tomatoes and onions.  I feel gluttonous and embarrassed, but I know that every few weeks you will entice me in to the same cycle again.

Oh Chips and Salsa...how I love and hate you.

Friday Confessional

Linking Up Again!

The Juice is Worth the Squeeze

I don't/can't go #2 anywhere but my own house.  This makes vacationing very difficult sometimes

Sometimes I talk to my students like I talk to Harper.  That's when I know they are really driving me crazy, when I break it down to the most simple words to talk to them.

I never go to Target without looking at the Clearance shoes.  I have a closet shelf full of shoes, and I try to never pay more than $15 for them.

I DVR General Hospital.  I've watched it since I was a teenager and I just can't seem to break the habit. Every school year I saw I'm going to cut it off, but I always can't seem to let it go, even when end up with 20 episodes Back logged that I have to catch up on over Christmas Break.

When we do all over deep cleans of the house, I try to get through as much of the house as I can by myself so that when Joe joins in the only thing left is vacuuming the stairs so he has to do it.  Another chore I try to weasel my way out of doing because I hate it.

Confession is good for the soul.  Link up with Mrs. Eyecansee to cleanse yours!

Throwback Thursday

I got the bright idea to kill some time by looking back at old blog posts.  Some were very funny.  This one brought back some memories.  Here's what I was blogging about on this day 2 years ago.

**The best part of the story, I have said student's little brother this year and he's almost as much of a drama queen.

Finally Fall

After a really hot summer it was fantastic to enjoy our first fall weather weekend.  I knocked out a 10 mile run, and then set off for some family fall fun!

First we met my mom, sister and brother in law for apple picking.

We have Harper's picture in this chair every year since she was born.  Think she'll still cooperate when she's 13?

This morning we did some fall baking.
Banana Crunch Muffins
I used the magazine I got from my Mommy Mail Swap partner Jessica to make some homed applesauce.  It is delicious.

I can't wait to make some more recipes from here.  Thanks Jessica!

The Juice is Worth the Squeeze
Linking up with my BFF and her Friday Confessions

I take 15 minute naps while Harper watches one of her Disney Jr. shows.  Sure I could engage in the show with her...or I can nap.  Those shows are like white noise.

I walk around my classroom barefoot after the students leave at the end of the day.  I wear heels a lot and at the end of the day the cold tile floor feels good on my feet.

I hate buying gas.  Sometimes I will offer to drive one car over the other if I know the one needs gas because then Joe will have to buy it.

One of my cats tries to escape every day when I come home from work.  It is so annoying having to chase after him that I threaten to just leave him out there.  If I didn't worry that he'd annoy my neighbors, I would follow up on my threat.

When I get a pedicure I prefer to have the woman who speaks no English give it to me.  This is 45 minutes where I don't want to talk to anyone.

Happy Friday!
