Harper Photo Dump and some exciting news

Harper started full time in the Infant 2 room today. This is for toddlers age 1-2. During her trial run last week she would come home exhausted from trying to keep up with all the kids in the room because they all walk. Well, tonight we sat down to do some practice steps between mom and dad....TADA! She took 2-3 steps on her own back and forth for about 5 minutes. It was SO exciting. Each time she would reach one of us she would laugh and clap. And she even took a few tumbles, but got right back up and tried again. This was super exciting considering sometimes she can be kind of wimpy. I was such a proud mama.

Challenge Accepted

Tonight for the first time I watched the show Extreme Couponing on TLC.

As I sat and watched these people save so much money on groceries I realized I still had so many questions about the process. Joe was cracking up at my disbelief, awe, and irritation with the whole idea. I decided the only way I would truly know the value of something like this is to try it myself. I figure I'm set up to at least attempt it...I'm type A so I stress about details, I can be very organized, and I'm always up to a challenge.

I don't know if I will be and "Extreme" couponer because that seems to require transforming a spare room in your house into a mini grocery store. Instead I will make it my goal to be a "Super" couponer. I will try it for the whole summer and report out to you whether it's worth it or not. I'll share some of my struggles and successes. Who knows, maybe you'll see me on TLC in a few short months!

Mother's Day at the Zoo

Seriously...what a difference a year makes. Here's Harper on my first Mother's Day last year.

And here was us spending a fantastic day at the zoo this year.

It was Harper's first trip to the zoo. All in all, she did great. It was a little tough because she wanted to be out of her stroller exploring, but she can't walk on her own yet, so there was some frustration with that. Otherwise, she seemed to love the zoo. Any exhibit that allowed her to stand at some glass and look at animals was a winner in her book. We spent about 45 minutes total in the aquarium. She was fascinated by all the fish swimming by. I loved watching her experience so many new things. The weather was beautiful and Mom's got in free. It was a great way to spend the day.

May Showers

Although it has been raining buckets around here, my May showers are of the baby and bridal variety. It seems I have a lot of showering to do this month.

This weekend is my sister's bridal shower. I'm hosting this one and we're having a fiesta theme. I've got all the decor, and the menu is planned, but I'm struggling with what to serve for dessert. Anyone out there have a Mexican inspired dessert they can share?

The next two weekends after that I have baby showers. It's so fun that we have some new babies joining our ranks soon. Both ladies are having boys which makes it fun for me to shop in a different section of the baby store.

Hopefully all the nature showers will stop so we can get some more outdoor time.
