My First Haul

Last night I set out for the Giant Eagle armed with my new coupon binder. I had gone through the weekly ad and found some good deals. Not 5 minutes into my trip, I was looking at my options for band aids, when this ruggedly handsome guy strikes up a conversation with me about the show on TLC. I fill him in the the show has inspired my summer project and that I was about to get cheap band-aids. He wished me luck and now I am officially the weirdo with the binder.
Here's my haul...the stuff on the left was what I was forced to buy without a coupon.

Total savings....

My bill would have been $51.76, but instead I paid $21.70. Not too shabby I say. Here's some of my good deals:

  • Three boxes of bayer aspirin...Original cost: $11.07...I paid: nothing...in fact i got 3 cents back. (I think this might have been cheating a little because the cashier used over ride so scan both the coupon I cut out and the one on the box)

  • two boxes of toothpaste and a tooth brush...Original cost: $7.77...I paid: $.50

  • two boxes of band aids...Original cost: $5.00...I paid: $2.00

But by far the best deal...one bottle of French's Dijon mustard Original cost: $3.19...I paid: Nothing...but the store paid me 39 cents. It's too bad I didn't have duplicates of that coupon or I could have gone extreme and bought like 30 bottles of mustard I don't even like.

Hey Nikki, I like this "segment"! I haven't seen the show on TLC, but you might inspire me to try harder on savings :)

Sweet!! I always say I want to use coupons, but then I never do...I'm a slacker. I do love to watch the show though!

Sweet! I still won't have the patience or time to try it...but I will live vicariously thru you and your mustard buying extravaganza!

Go Nikki!!! I use coupons but never get anything for free - how do you do that?
