Bump Day - Week 17

So I realized that I haven't been doing enough to document this crazy change in my life. I am going to institute Bump Day on Wednesday...(hopefully I've been clever enough that people realize the play on the words "hump Day" for Wednesday)

Anyway...my plan is to post a picture of my bump, share what "should" be going on with me, what is really going on with me, and how the baby is doing cooking away.

The Bump

The Baby

Baby's now the size of an onion! Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. His umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes now feature one-of-a-kind prints.

The Mommy - In theory

Though increased blood flow is good for baby, it might be making you a little...damp. Body secretions (think sweat, mucus, nosebleeds, and vaginal discharge) are in full force. This week might also mark the first time you feel baby move inside you, but don't worry if it's another two months before you notice anything. (Or realize that this time, it's actually not gas.)

The Mommy - For Real

Sometimes I get these weekly updates telling me what should be happening to me and I think...I'm not experiencing any of that. This is one of those weeks. In fact, I almost wish for the sweating because then at least I would be warm. I'm cold all the time. I was really hoping that being pregnant during the winter would be a blessing...haven't experienced that yet. I wore my coat all day in class because my room is cold, so I was freezing.

Great. My "bump" is bigger than yours and I'm not even pregnant. We'll call mine the halloween candy bump.

I can't believe you're 17 weeks already! By the time I see you for Thanksgiving you'll be at the half way mark. Werid!
